In the Beta version of Super Mario 64, the Big Boo in Big Boo's Haunt held not a Star, but a key. This key's purpose is still unknown, but it is speculated that the key would open a door in Big Boo's Haunt. The model was left in the game, and can be accessed with a GameShark code.
